Was the message that was craved on the wall , craved by agni’s blood ?

Oh, goodness, I don’t think so. No. It was just carved with the knife into the wallpaper/wall. This Lord Polaris (ā€Knife Dudeā€) carries around several knives. He left seven of them lodged into Agni’s back and also left one behind as theĀ ā€œpointā€ of the exclamation in the wall carving. And since he’s okay with leaving them behind, I’m thinking he has quite the knife supply.

Just thinking about Stealing the Candy from the Tummy

Yes, one case not yet solved, but hopefully will be in the next chapter

When our Bocchan Ā made the contract with Sebastian, his hands were quite clean, ie no blood

And when they come out of that place, our bocchan has blood on his hands and the sleeves.

Not to mention, a ring.

It was quite possible that his right hand had no blood while his left hand was pretty bloody as the speech bubbles in the respective panels hide the other hand most of the time. But thinking of where the ring did come from, there is only a few possible conclusions. Of course, now that we know a twin was there and he was stabbed by the cult, it is quite possible (pretty surely) that the ring was in his stomach and one of the duo took it.Ā

The question is, was it Sebastian or Bocchan?

I want to say it was Sebastian, since Ciel Phantomhive tells Ā that to Sebastian, and yes, reasons, but if it was that so, why would our Bocchan have that much blood on his hands? I surely don’t think just a ring can have that much blood dripping on to his hands and sleeves too.

It seems the original Japanese text suggests Sebastian removed it, but I think we are simply *missing information*. The memory has not been shown in full detail (yet). The illustrations definitely suggest the earl had to dig around inside his brother’s body to fish out the ring himself, despite the wording of the text….

It *might* have been a collaborative effort – Sebastian making any extra cuts needed to reach the stomach… and the earl digging around for the ring….

I also hope this gets solved in ch132, if they continue the flashbacks, as I think they might.

Does Sebastian Know the Meaning of the Writing on the Wall?

shinigami-mistress:

In chapter 128, Ciel and Sebastian find words cut into the wall of Ciel’s room.

While there are theories out there to its meaning, one thing that was interesting was their reaction. Ciel immediately looked terrified. It appears he KNOWS what this odd message means and who it is from.

Sebastian, on the other hand, appears to approach the writing as more of a mystery. He reads the words and then seems to ponder them.

He’s just bringing up the fact that doesn’t look like the work of Bravat. The moment he sees the words, he doesn’t appear to have an immediate thought as to the identity of the culprit.

However, he does notice Ciel’s reaction. By the time they get back to Soma and find the scraps that had fallen from Soma’s hand, it looks as if something has changed. Ciel asks Sebastian if he (Sebastian) would like to him, and Sebastian has an interesting response. He says that he regrettably does not tell lies.

Why is this regrettable? My guess would be that Sebastian thinks that Ciel would prefer a lie to the truth.

It appears that Sebastian didn’t immediately understand the meaning of the words. He looked at it like a mystery to be solved. When he saw Ciel’s reactions, however, he realizes it’s something more. That’s why he finds it regrettable that he can’t lie. He know the truth, and knows it’s not something that Ciel wants to hear or face. At least, that’s how I interpret it.

Thoughts?

Sebastian might not know exactly what’s going on to make the earl so terrified, but he seems to be piecing it together. He cannot give the earl any comfort or reassurance of safety at this time.

He might have figured out what the writing means by the time the earl is asking him whether he lied… and, if so, then they must both be thinking now about the possibility of a Bizarre Doll Ciel….

I don’t think real!ciel could have survived the whole ordeal. But what are your opinions? Ofcourse he could have made a contract with a demon which is very likely because of the “strength” that guy had when fighting agni. But still he was dead, ciel got the ring out and yeah…

akumadeenglish:

Hmm? (“dωd)? I’m not sure if I’m following you, who made a contract with the demon?? Real!Ciel?? If so, that theory is totally new to me!! (@_@)

I don’t think real!ciel could have survived the whole ordeal.

I don’t think either that real!Ciel ā€œsurvivedā€ the stabbing. However, we don’t really know what happened to his body after he died on the altar. So there’s the chance that ā€˜someone’ retrieved it and made a bizarre doll out of him.

Ofcourse he could have made a contract with a demon which is very likely
because of the ā€œstrengthā€ that guy had when fighting agni.

It is indeed likely that the guy with the knife who outmatched Agni was a supernatural being, but even if it turns out that he is indeed a demon, I personally don’t think that real!Ciel
made a contract with him. The reason is very simple: In order to make a contract, you’ll have to give up your soul and offer it to the demon once he made your wish come true (just like in Sebastian&Ciel’s case). Real!Ciel, however, doesn’t even have a soul to begin with because

it is very likely that Sebastian

ā€œateā€ it on the day he was summoned.

So unless there was a very generous demon who was willing to serve a small human child ā€˜for free’, I don’t think real!Ciel could have made a contract with a demon :/

This could also be a reference to the demon retrieving the ring from real Ciel’s “tummy”, since it seems that it was in fact Sebastian asking “Should I get the ring out?”. The French translation makes it clearer by it meaning more like “Want me to remove your ring?” in the way an adult would speak to a child. A French blogger pointed this out to me yesterday (sorry I forgot the name, but their question and our discussion are on my blog).

I mentioned/tagged you because I was wondering how it was originally worded in Japanese. It probably uses wording that makes the speaker clear (either the demon or the boy). The sentence in question is from ch10, when Grell gets a tiny glimpse of Sebastian’s cinematic record.

Anyways, “He did… to Ciel” could be eating his soul AND getting the ring out of his body by a rather crude method….

miticsky:

abybweisse:

Actually, @miticsky, this is interesting! I’m aware of the ā€œtuā€ vs ā€œvousā€ meaning (I took French for five years), but I haven’t seen the French translations of the manga.

This strongly suggests that it’s the earl who says this, not the demon. And that’s what I initially thought anyway, since the wording in English sounds a bit childish. Perhaps the wording in French is also not well-written because it’s being said by a child?

The only thing that bugs me is… if it’s the kid saying this, why would he say ā€œyour ringā€? Makes it sound like the ring initially belonged to the demon….

I’ll go with maybe the translation into French wasn’t that good… and we still can’t be sure which of the two is speaking…. Hmm šŸ˜’ šŸ¤”

@akumadeenglish, what does the original Japanese suggest?

I don’t think Ciel was the one saying that. Like you said it would be weird Ciel would sayĀ ā€œyour ringā€ as we know that the ring is the Phantomhive one and not Sebastian’s.Ā Ā In the English version we don’t know wich one is speaking. However for french it must be Sebastian.Ā

I think we can’t relate to the French translation to know which one is speaking…

The phrasing in french is quite childish too. It’s like we talk to smaller children (or to toddler).

That would explain why it’s poorly written too.

Then the fact that Sebastian would useĀ ā€œtuā€ would be normal in this situation.Ā

Ā

Good, good. Thanks for doing the reblog, like I suggested. This is good input.

And like I discussed in messages, this might have even happened before the demon knew what form to take or before he even knew the kid came from an aristocratic family. Either way, this explains why it’s Sebastian being so informal and using such childish speech. lol I’m glad I got you to reblog with what you had told me: that it’s the way an adult might speak to a young child.

So, was that mirror set up higher on purpose to reflect Sebastian’s image? It’s too high for the earl, and it’s in the earl’s bedroom. He might spend as little time in the townhouse as possible, but it makes sense to have the mirrors at “earl level”, particularly in his master bedroom.

The earl understands the meaning of the words, and the demon would be more-easily reflected in the mirror… and now we can be pretty much certain that the demon asks whether he should remove the ring for the earl. Demon removes the ring (by whatever means) and hands it to the earl. Real Ciel is probably holding them both accountable for stealing the Phantomhive ring from him.
