The others? Maybe, but most are dudes. Depends on whether he’s into dudes, too. Yeah, five out of seven are male names:
Gilbert D.
Emile C.
Alex B.
Harry E.
Oliver A.
The only other female name is Molly/Mally G.
Also, Gilbert D. died in 1862, just four years before Cloudia/Claudia. If Undertaker took Gilbert as a lover, then it would have been while Cloudia/Claudia was still alive. Possible, but unlikely, since he’s so obsessed with the Phantomhive line.
However, it’s possible he took several human lovers over the years, at least since deserting, and these male names might be children of his. Just like Vincent and Frances got their mother’s last name, other children he might have sired (particularly out of wedlock) would have likely kept their mother’s maiden name (or married name, if she was married to someone else).
It’s interesting this chain of mourning lockets starts with 1837. That’s around the time he deserted the reapers. It’s also the year Victoria became queen (coronated the following year). Mourning lockets had been around for quite some time but didn’t become really popular until about 1860, when they replaced mourning rings as the preferred mourning/hair jewelry.
From Wikipedia:
He’s got a ring, too, and a character design page shows that it’s supposed to have hair in it, as well… like it’s been encased in resin.
This could be for someone also represented by a locket, but it might date back even further, since rings used to be more common than lockets for mourning jewelry.
If his ring really follows thatdrawing, then it’s rare, indeed, for the way it’s designed.
You know what I’d like to get a good look at? The chain of lockets worn by Gregory Violet during that “Sirius event”….
Is that chain of lockets also from Undertaker? Was this supposed to tell us he was definitely involved? Are they copies of the same seven, or are they different people?
Um, try (other spellings in parentheses):
Mourning jewelry
Mourning lockets
Hair lockets
Molly G (Mally G)
Alex B
Gilbert D
Emile C
Cloudia Phantomhive (Claudia Phantomhive)
Oliver A
Harry E
Flower language
It might be a bit hit or miss, since I think I only posted about the flowers on the lockets once or twice….
